Everyone loves the minions, right!??
Well I couldn’t resist working up this baby minion hat after watching Despicable Me 2 for like the 100th time! (as my son Michael is obsessed with this movie).
Michael and I play this game a million times a day at home or riding in the van where he echoes the words “Despicable Me” and I say, “No, Despicable Me”. He thinks this is wildly funny and sometimes giggles so hard he can’t say the words again! But he will come back with, “YES Despicable Me!” It goes over and over until he finally has that funny bone of his satisfied.
Oh the joys of Autism!
I love when he is in this fun mood… when he is extremely agitated I revert back to this game to pull him out of his funk. Sometimes we add in other characters he loves – Spongebob Squarepants, Scooby Doo, Dragon (really Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon) and my favorite – Alvin and the Chipmunks!
Who doesn’t love yelling “ALVIN!” (gotta search for a hat pattern for Alvin next!)
I used a Boye USA size J/10 – 6.00 MM hook with yellow, blue, brown, grey, white and black Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight 4 yarn to work up this hat.
The pattern belongs to Sarah from her blog Repeat Crafter Me. I absolutely LOVE her blog! You can find many free patterns that she has designed.
This free minion hat pattern comes in 6 different sizes, from 0-3 months through adults! So if you ever wanted one for yourself… Lol Personally it’s a tad too bright to be found on my head! The directions are straight forward so even a novice could make this hat.
She welcomes any items you make to be sold from this pattern only that you link back to her blog post! How awesome is that?
My children have absolutely loved this finished hat and they all want one for themselves. I can see myself making many more of these in my future! :)
